á       Adoption of agenda

á       Smart Music presentation ÐGeorge Xouris, resource to us, coordinates clinics/workshops for various school systems, will have one in August at South Mecklenburg High School

á       Thanks to Blair Smith for hosting the meeting at Jay Robison High School

á       Winter Minutes Ð Read on-line and accepted, clarification on all district audition deadline

á       TreasureÕs Report Ð Richard Holmes  - report read and accepted É. $27,000 plus in the bank. 

á       All District Auditions- Jennifer Isenhour & Carrie Lineberger, audition chairs, want to move to students playing all scales within a designated time- 3 1/2 minutes for middle school, 3 minutes for high school- send feedback to them, same as all state auditions with the exception of the timed component

o      revised rubric on how to judge and how to award points-see handout

o      information will be on the website also

o      percussion requirements-new rudimental solo that will replace current rudiments, can still choose individual percussion, copies were passed out, on website also

o      Any suggestions, in reference to auditions, need to be submitted by June 14, 2011

o      2013-Auditions-January 12, Clinic-January 25-26

o      2014- Auditions-January 11, Clinic-January 24-25

á       High School Concert Festival at North Lincoln High School ÐJames Phillips, March 20-23, 2012

o      **Any one interested in hosting this event needs to put a proposal in to the executive board.

á       Score Service Committee ---Neil Underwood ÒGot Scores, Need MoreÓ, Both score catalogs are at North Lincoln right now, new scores being added, updated list will be sent out soon

á       State MPACommitteeÑScott Clowes update from the November meeting, info to be posted on the state website, took the MENC sheet made revisions, see him to give input on the changes they made, steered away from the sheet with the check boxes, error in Master works list- see Scott if you are doing one to get clarification

o      Standing Rule Amendment (proposal)- sight reading judge may not listen to band performance on stage before judging the band in sightreading, judge can not request to work with the band at the conclusion of the sightreading

o      -procedure Ð (proposal) president elect will send directions to the MPA chair, chair will go over the guidelines with those people who are judging

o      Score Service- Neil Underwood, Brandon Meeks

o      State MPA- any additions need to be submitted to Kim Wise or Scott Clowes by June 1, must have score and the rubric completed, a recording is helpful

á       Honors Band Auditions-March 10, 2012 at East Davidson/Brown MS, snow date March 17

           Neil Underwood is our auditions committee representative for HS and James Phillips is our MS representative, give feedback about honors band requirements (solos/scales)

á       All-State Band Clinic- May 4-6, 2012 All State at UNC Chapel Hill

á       Marching Band reportÉ Dustin Stamey- interested in hosting a marching band MPA festival or if you intend to attend a marching band MPA festival- email Dustin by May 15

á       application to host a state sanctioned contest is online, deadline is June 1

á       Solo and Ensemble- Ruth Petersen, Rob Carrington-over 500 events scheduled, approximately 900 students, please monitor and supervise your children, may be in the gym, cafeteria, or commons area

o      next yearÕs date- April 28, 2012, registration deadline March 28

á       Jazz Report ÐJosh Stevenson, May 13-14 MPA, contact Matt Liner if interested in playing for NCMEA Convention, check website for additional info

á       Other Business- Lesli Clowes read proposed amendment to bylaws for Election of Officers-amendment passed, check website

o      Windy Fullager will be middle school tabulation room representative for our district

o      Building Better Bands Clinic

-       ASBDA sponsoring an event, June 22-24, Dr. Tim, Lowell Graham, Paula Crider, 1.6 CEUs, information will be on the website  

o      Mentor Rep- Windy Fullagar

o      Surprise announcement- Richard Holmes is being nominated for the NCMEA President-Elect

o      Award of Excellence- will need to vote on suggested criteria in September, send any suggestions to Keith James by July 1

á       Election of New Officers to Board

o      HS Rep- Chris Moreau

o      MS Rep-Alice Aldredge

á       New Business

o      proposal at state level about how the district lines are done could be presented in November

o      HB546- e-mail state senate education committee members

o      all district committee meeting- Alice Aldredge made comment about adding a second middle school band. A committee was created to look into logistics of offering the second band,

o      Fall Meeting- September 12, 2012 at UNCC at 6:00 pm

á       Spring Business Meeting- May 7 2012, location TBA

á       Announcements

o      May 17th-Robert Smith commissioned piece will be premiered at Jay Robison High School

o      Paul Jackson- thank everyone for your help and support during this last year; it has been difficult

o      Mekel Rogers- put on Brian Balmages publishers list and JW Pepper
