Minutes from the General Meeting 9/14/09 7 pm

 

• Introduction of members
• Guest speakers from UNCC Dr Marks and Dr Lumpkin……. Recognition of Joe Cox for winning the national Claude T Smith Award……… Introduction of other University and Dealer individuals.
• Minutes – Read on-line and accepted by acclamation
• Treasure’s Report – Richard Holmes - report read and accepted ….15,255.14 in the bank.
• All District Auditions motion to move auditions back to Jan. 9th @ S. Point High School. Moved and defeated … Auditions will be Jan 16^th @ S. Point High…… Jennifer Isenhour presented details for registration … deadline is Dec 16^th
• All District Clinic Jan 29-30 $15 for clinic …… Hickory H S Directors for Clinic 2010 director—Edd Powell ms 2010---- 11-12 Jack Stamp, 9/10 Brian Balmages
• Commission / Clinic Committee Commissions upcoming 2010 Balmages 9/10, 2011 Sheldon 11/12, 2012 Swearingen 7/8
• Middle School Concert Festival March 10-12 at Central Acad. Info via Tracey Humphries…. . Phillip Riggs, Eric Harris, Connie Weeks and ????TBA
• High School Concert Festival High School March 23-26 23-24 Glenn Price, John Rhodes, Bob Buckner and Lou Cefus 25-26 Mike Robinson, Scott Tobis, Col Lamb and Barry Tucker.
• Score Service Committee ---Neil Underwood “Got Scores, Need More” Info to new directors regarding score service.
• State Festival Committee—Kim Wise update from the summer meeting.
• All-State Band Clinic/ NCMEA: NCMEA= Nov 8-10^th Winston- Salem. All State-April 30- May 2= All State at UNC Review of new bylaws to be voted on in Nov.
• Marching Band report… Dustin Stamey. update of issues to be voted on at convention….
• Solo and Ensemble will then be moved to April 24^th … UNCC offered facility to host event ….Maybe some UNCC Faculty would be able to give master classes.
• Percussion Update… Rick Fisher… review of proposed changes to percussion auditions
• Mentor Project put on hold at State level
• Howren Scholarship noted and discussed submission of application
• Website/Yahoo Group …. Richard Holmes gave info regarding Website and Yahoo Group.
• New Business
• Marching band contests announced.
