• District Auditions- Anne Reese – gave report and thank you for years of opportunity to serve. Motion to have Carrie Lineberger and Jennifer Isenhour as new auditions chair. Motion seconded and approved.
• District Clinic—Felicia Davis—nothing new to report
• Young Band Director - Neil Underwood ---Proposal submitted for the young band director award. Recommendation made to have nominations submitted in writing at the district auditions. Nominations to be reviewed by the board and submitted to the general body. To be voted on next fall
• Award of Excellence- Neil Underwood -- Recommendation made to have nominations submitted in writing at the district auditions. Nominations to be reviewed by the board and submitted to the general body. To be voted on next fall. This years nominations are Felicia Davis and Lesli Clowes winner of award is Felica Davis
• Middle School Contest- Tracy Humphries. March 18-20 at Wingate University. No major concerns - Registration Feb 18^th Judges Bill Witcher, John Entzi, WC Lanning, Joe Gulledge
• High School Contest- March 31- April 3 no major concerns. Discussion regarding MENC State sheets tabled HS Festival…. James Philips. March 31- April 3 at N. Lincoln

• Howren Scholarship – Rudy Hawley – this years winner Tim Singh from Porter Ridge H S
• Jazz Clinic / Festival: Jerry Lowe - site to be moved to a middle school in Morganton NC
• Solo Ensemble - Neil Underwood - no concerns to be held May 2, 2009 North Lincoln HS
• Honors Band - Auditions Keith James – on line registration as of Feb 1^st… deadline 15^th and midnight. Check to be carried to the audition on the day of auditions on March 7^th in Thomasville NC
• Honors Band –New music clinic - Richard Holmes -- April 24-26 @ UNCG Greensboro … New music clinic is on Friday and Saturday mixed grade levels throughout the two days.
• Spring Meeting Date May 4, 2009 Judges meeting at 4pm. Board meeting at 5pm. Dinner 6pm. Meeting at 6:45 pm
• NCMEA - Richard Holmes. Concert Contest will be titled Music Performance Adjudication (MPA) Arts Credit- meeting Feb 7^th was cancelled. Applications to perform at State Convention will be accepted until April 24th.
• Marching Band Committee- Dustin Stamey - Report given
• All District Cut Scores Keith James.. no official rule for low score cut … Motion for All District to establish 50 as a cut off if that is the highest score in the section. If 49 or below the highest score then that instrument will not be included in the band. Seconded and Approved. (Standing Rule)
